The Much Anticapated Update!

I hope none of you are worried about us. But, a complaint was made that we do not blog enough. Well, I would be more than happy to blog more often if there is a second to this idea. Also, if you want more blogs, feel free to make suggestions on topics or ask our opinions about something.

So, we have been really busy. I am coming up on the end of the semester. This means lots of studying, homework, and stress. I know Jessica doesn't like this time of year because I end up being sleep deprived and a little grouchy. So, far so good this semester.

So, yesterday Jessica started listening to Christmas music. This of course got me in the mood to setup the Christmas tree and decorations. Jessica did help a little, but for the most part it was all me. What do you think?
So, yeah I am a little proud of my work as decorator and photographer. Oh yeah.

Another item of news is Jessica turned 24. Yeah, she feels old. I took some photos of her at her birthday dinner.

Isn't she so darn beautiful! I love my wife. I love serving her while pregnant (I will admit to a little sarcasism there. I am not perfect) My favorite part hands down is tieing her shoes. She hates the way I do it, but that is the only way I know how and she can't bend over far enough to show me how to do it her way. I guess she should have planned a little further in advance. However, it has been very entertaining to watch her move from one position on the coach to another. I don't know any athletes that may have grunted that many times in their careers (LOTS OF SARCASM!). In reality she does as much as she can and I do the rest. She has even trained her third graders to pick everything up for her. This includes the things that randomly fall out of her hand. We don't know how this phenomenon happens yet it does. OFTEN! I have seen it with my own eyes and I know this is probably the most frustrating thing about being pregnant to Jessica. Thanks third graders.

Jessica and I went on a massive comparison shopping run recently. Oh was I exhausted afterwards. My feet were numb from all the walking. We decided to go to all the different baby stores to price strollers, infant carriers, and pack & plays. We went to Walmart, Target, Shopko, Burlington Coat Factory, Babies-R-Us, USABaby, and Sears. We found a large variation in prices. Everyone was fairly competitive with the exception of USABaby (They actually had signs in the door claiming they had the lowest prices in town!NOT!). After finishing the hunt we went online. We went to many websites and in the end decided to go with Walmart.com. They had the lowest prices and free shipping. By shopping online we were also able to get everything matching (Trust me Gavin cares that they match) and the exact pattern of fabric we wanted. If you want to see what we purchased go to Walmart.com and search, "Tango in the Tongo." We bought all three together. It has been fun watching them ship. One is coming to Utah from Ohio, another from California, and the other from Illinois.

Another good deal at Walmart.com is preordering the new Harry Potter DVD. They were selling it for only $10. YAY!

On to sports...

So, there is this basketball team in Utah called the Jazz. Maybe you have heard of them, but let me tell you they have forgotten the main point of playing basketball. That is to win the game. How does a team go from beating the Spurs at home and away to losing big to the Oklahoma City Thunder and other dead beat basketball teams.

Jessica and I were in attendance at their home opener. Greg Miller stood up in center court and annouced that they had put unprecidented resources into building a championship quality team. You would think such resource would equate to wins but this is not the case. Instead everytime I watch them play I am reminded of a set of Southwest commercials, "Want to get away?" This can be taken in two ways. Either the Jazz want to get away and go on vacation or I want to get away and not be tortured by such horrid basketball play (Now, remember Jessica and I are season ticket holders. We invested money in this team. In some way I feel like a shareholder.) Well, needless to say, bringing back the same team that can never beat the Lakers in the playoffs doesn't lead to championships. Albert Einstein said something like this: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Trying to win a NBA Championship with the same team over and over again just isn't going to work. DUH! (I am saying DUH! with as much attitude as I possibly can. Imagine a teenager saying it to a parent.)

So, it is rivalery week between BYU and Utah. As for me and my house we support the Utes! Now, I look forward to this week because it is fun to talk a little smack and have a little fun with BYU fans. Unfortunately the BYU fans I know must already see the loss on its way. They were unenthused and very unsupportive of there team. I find this very sad. I am a Chicago Bulls fan and that hasn't stopped me from thinking the are going to win every game (Okay I admit it I don't think they can beat the Lakers. What a sad NBA world I live in.).

Well, Have Fun!

Go Utes!

A Positive Light!

Last night was crazy! Thank heavens that everything turned out fine and that it was really just one big false alarm.

So, I am wicked tired and now waiting for class to start. Oh! How I enjoy listening to a full blown environmentalist go on and on about how we are all killers and that we need to get on our bike and destroy all cars! (Hint: Full of Sarcasm!)

I believe there is a chance there will be a super star soccer player soon to join our family. On Sunday night, Gavin was kicking like crazy and I finally felt him move. Jessica about ripped my hand off when she wanted me to feel it. Then last night there was something I now think is kind of funny. When they were trying to hear Gavin's heart beat he was kicking the sensor. So, we heard "thump, thump, thump" and then a louder whack!

That's my boy. He is working on his agility and kicking skills. I am so proud!

By the way, the Bulls beat the Jazz by one point today. I know it is only the preseason, but I will take what I can get!

What happened.

The Dr. from InstaCare finally called with my blood work just after 8 p.m.  He said the results were suspicious and that I needed to find someone to take me to the ER.  He asked which hospital I would be going to and then said he'd call them to let them know I'm coming and then call me back.  I started freaking out and signed on to MSN messenger to talk to Grant and my mom.  My mom immediately called my aunt and my aunt headed out to get me.  Meanwhile Grant tried to find a way to the hospital.  Luckily my aunt's boyfriend was able to pick Grant up at the U and bring him down.  I got to the hospital, they got me back into a check in point, where Grant finally met up with me.  Then Adele and Steve went to get our car to bring it to us while we went to the room where we'd spend the rest of the evening.  The Dr. came to meet with me before I even met my nurse.  He said they'd have to do a CAT Scan and told me about the risks, but that we needed to rule out a blood clot for sure, since my blood tested positive for maybe having one.  The first nurse in there was from labor and delivery to check on my baby.  I had been freaking out because he hadn't been moving after I had eaten dinner and got the first phone call.  Luckily he started moving when the Dr. first came in to talk to me.  So the nurse from labor and delivery found the heart beat after much searching and then monitored me for a while.  Finally, my official nurse for the night came in and hooked me up to an IV which was not comfortable.  All in all, we spent approximately 3 hours at the hospital and I got lots of blood drawn and got a CAT Scan.  ALL IS WELL.  Nothing showed up on the CAT Scan to worry about.  The longest part of the night was just the WAITING for everything to go down and be done.  Because we weren't sure what was going to happen, my coworker got plans ready for a substitute for me and I called sub finder and got a sub.  I hope everything went well at school today(crossing fingers).  I stressed out about putting so much onto another teacher, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.  So many people helped me and Grant last night and continue to today.  I'm glad we have a good support system and people who love us!

Breathing

I've had issues with breathing almost my entire life.  I remember first noticing it when Andrew, my younger brother, had a train that expelled smoke.  The smoke made me really sick.  My mom noticed it was a problem when we lived in Northern Utah and the inversion would come.  We moved to St. George and I really never had problems again.  Now that I live up here in Northern Utah again I have these issues more often.  Today was the worst case I've ever had!  When the heater kicks on in my classroom there is this horrible smell that accompanies it and I can hardly breath when it's on.  I spent most of the day outside of my classroom today and didn't think much of it UNTIL I worked in there for an hour and started having troubles breathing.  I had this terrible pain in the left side of my chest that kept getting worse as I stayed and worked.  Finally I decided to take my phone out to the car to call Grant and my Dr.  I talked to the nurse at the Dr.'s office and she recommended I go get checked out at InstaCare.  I went in school and got permission to leave early to head to InstaCare.  I walked in, signed in, and then sat down while I waited for them to call me to sign in completely.  The lady came said it would be just a minute and before she left asked me what I was being seen for and then she changed her plan and took me back immediately.  They hooked me up to something to check my heart rate, then something to check my oxygen, blood pressure, etc.  The Dr. then came in pretty quick and check some more things.  They said everything looked good.  Then they drew some blood, which I'm still waiting for those results, and did an EKG to check my heart in detail.  They sent me home and told me the Dr. would call me tonight once he gets the results back from my blood work.  I feel practically back to normal now and can breath just fine.  I really believe the school I work at is the problem.  I've had this problem before when the air is dirty and I think with the heater kicking at school on I'm going to have problems everyday now.  I've decided to talk to my principal about it, because the janitor is already aware of the problem (it was a problem last year he came to check out).  I hope it won't be this bad ever again, but I worry...

School! Fun!

Wow! Jessica has taken over the blog. Due to this I thought I would throw some words together for your enjoyment.

So, for those of you who didn't know.... Jessica is pregnant with our son Gavin. She is now feeling him move all the time now. With him moving a lot there has become a common occurrence at our home. First, Gavin begins practicing his gymnastics routine inside Jessica's belly. After having practiced for a while, Jessica either calls me to where she is at or simply grabs my hand and puts it on her belly. I feel nothing and look up at her (imagine me and my best puppy dog look... okay not really). Every time this happens her response is: "He was just moving a second ago." The other night she tried to coax Gavin into moving by asking nicely. No luck. So, up to this point I have not yet felt my son practicing his back flips.

Besides Jessica and work there is something else that demands a lot of my time. Bet you couldn't guess what that is!? Well, if you guessed "School," you are correct. Sorry no prizes. School is actually going well this semester. I have a schedule I enjoy. The classes I am taking are Corporate Finance, Intro to Marketing, Intro to Coaching, and Intro to Environmental Science. So far I have been doing fairly well in the classes. My teachers are pretty good. I only have one professor that is prone to tangents that are completely unrelated to the subject at hand. The other great thing about this semester is that I am only in class 3 nights. Jessica loves this as do I. It is nice that the first half of the week I am in class and the second half I do homework and study.

Well, Speaking of the devil, it is time for class. Go UTES!

3rd Grader Story

I was telling this story to Grant last night and he said I should put it on the blog. It's a story about my class. I was walking to get my class from first recess yesterday with the other Mrs. B and we were talking about our classes. She informed me that our two classes had a competition going but that her class was the only class who knew. The competition is which class can get to the line first. We walk out and I have about 9 kids in line to her 0. So she said, see your class wins a point. We wait for the rest of our classes and then I take my class into the hall first because they were ready first. We get back to class and do our thing. Right before we left for lunch I informed my class about the competition. They were excited about it and determined to win. Some of them kept coming up with me telling me what I should tell the class so they could win. Obviously I told them they needed to tell their classmates their ideas and see if they would buy in. I go to lunch and I don't think of it once. I walk out the door with Mrs. A and my ENTIRE class starts jumping up and down yelling "we won, we won." I started laughing right away and got them quieted down and took them inside. I informed them when we got back to class that this isn't a one time competition, that it's going to go all year, which obviously they didn't pick up. So in regards to my last post about my class wanting to please me, this was just one part of them wanting to make me happy. My class took Friday, we'll see how Mrs. B's class does next week. I'll keep you posted.
